The number of police officers injured in riots continues to grow in Belfast. Clashes are taking place in the capital of Northern Ireland for the fifth day in a row.

The number of wounded policemen has climbed to about 60 with approximately 100 demonstrators having been arrested.

The people are up in arms against the decision by city council members to remove the flag of Great Britain from Belfast City Hall.

Earlier, lawmakers agreed to a compromise and offered to raise a the Union Jack over City Hall, as well as over other government agencies in Northern Ireland on 17 days a year in honor of officially established holidays. However supporters of Northern Ireland’s membership in the United Kingdom are not satisfied with such a proposal.
