A group of Somali men are believed to be  demanding $100,000 for a video which allegedly shows the mayor of Toronto  smoking crack cocaine.

The Toronto  Star claims two of its reporters have  seen the video which they say shows mayor Rob Ford in a room, sitting in a chair  inhaling from what appears to be a glass crack pipe.

According to reports, Ford is incoherent and  discusses topics including the Liberal leader Justin Trudeau and the Don Bosco  High School football team which he coaches.

U.S. based website Gawker first brought the alleged video to the world’s attention on Thursday.

But a man claiming to be Ford’s lawyer,  Dennis Morris, has posted underneath the story which says it is ‘false and  defamatory’.

It says: ‘Mayor Ford denies such took  place, and if such posting occurs, it is false and defamatory, and you will be  held legally accountable.’

‘In reference to the photo, Mayor Ford has  his photo taken daily, sometimes with others.’

Both publications say they were approached by  a man with the video who wanted a six-figure sum in exchange for the footage.

Even though they say money was not exchanged,  they met with a tipster who let them view the alleged video on a phone.

A screen grab was taken which shows Ford with  two men. One is believed to be a fatal gunshot victim called Anthony Smith.

It is not known when exactly the alleged  footage was made.

The MailOnline has contacted Rob Ford’s  office and are awaiting a comment.
