Insulin Resistance Reversed With CoQ10

Researchers discover that CoQ10 plays a pivotal role in the prevention and possible reversal of diabetes in regard to insulin resistance.

Citation: Mitochondrial CoQ deficiency is a common driver of mitochondrial oxidants and insulin resistance. eLife, 2018; 7 DOI: 10.7554/eLife.32111

  1. This research is very interesting. I think the pathway needs to be better understood. Was insulin resistance driving the low CoQ10 levels or were low CoQ10 levels driving the insulin resistance? Does CoQ10 actually improve insulin resistance? This is all very exciting! CoQ10 has long been used for heart health support, with water and fat-soluble being recommended due to superior absorption. The emerging research on other additional benefits is something to keep an eye on!
